The divisions on the fingers are divided into sharp tooth-like sections so that when your fist is clenched around the bat and the divisions are separated, your fingers are still protected by the protruding ridge of the 'tooth'. As if this wasn't enough protection, the side of the index fingers has a protective strip divided into three pads, ensuring that this vulnerable area is safely cushioned.
